Styrenic Plastics

Styrenic plastics are some of the most important materials with millions of tons made per year and innumerable applications from disposable coffee cups to cell phone housings. The course will cover the commodity styrenic polymers PS, SAN, HIPS and ABS which are relatively well known. In addition, the lesser known specialty styrenic plastics such as ASA (an ultra weatherable form of ABS), MABS (transparent ABS), ABS/PC, ABS/PA, SBS elastomer and sPS (crystalline, syndiotactic polystyrene) will all be presented with explanations of their composition, properties and applications.

  • The composition and mechanical properties of the commodity styrenic polymers
  • Their performance : cost position and typical applications
  • Outline of the specialty styrenic plastics with properties, performance:cost analysis & applications
  • A new smart thermoplastic which changes transparency reversibly with temperature
  • Learn why how fillers and pigments affect different types of ABS and HIPS

Benefits of the seminar

  • Understand one of the most important types of thermoplastic material
  • Learn about not just the commodity plastics but the specialties as well
  • Better choose, use, modify and market these materials
  • Hear about a new smart material that changes transparency with temperature

Who should attend?

If you want an introduction to these diverse materials then look no further. You will get a great overview and head start in this field. The seminar is of value to materials specialists, compounders, distributors, sales people, designers, purchasing staff and more.
