Dr. Chris DeArmitt FRSC CChem
Chris has experience from industry leading companies such as BASF (Germany) and Electrolux (Sweden and Italy) as well as companies in the USA including Hybrid Plastics, Phantom Plastics (Chris’ own consultancy company) and now as CTO for Applied Minerals. Chris brings a wealth of knowledge and international experience. Having worked in R&D, Marketing and Product Development, he is able to see the industry from a holistic perspective.
A recognized expert on plastics, composites and additives, Chris has been providing plastic training to industry professionals since 2003 including web seminars and custom workshops for major global companies. He has innumerable invited lectures, chaired conferences and has over 40 patents, papers, book and encyclopedia chapters to his name. He is ranked number one plastics expert in a global internet forum with over 12 000 members. In addition to technical expertise, Chris is a renowned innovator. He solved a major product quality problem that had confounded BASF for over 30 years. In 2007, 2009 and 2010 he won substantial cash prizes for solving Innocentive open innovation industrial challenges. This places him in the top 0.1% of innovators world-wide.
Chris obtained his BSc, MPhil and PhD from the University of Sussex, UK. He is a Chartered Chemist and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry.
